Are You Sarah's Daughter?

By Angela Willigham

I just finished re-reading TD Jakes book "Woman Thou Art Loosed".  I am sure like many of you I read it many years ago.  I was not in the place then that I am today, so it did not have the same impact.  How many know that depending on where we are in our walk different things affect us differently?  You might believe that you have been healed of everything but new experiences bring about new revelation.  As I read it this time from a different place in my spiritual growth, I saw some new things.  One of the things that stuck out for me was when he kept saying you are Sarah's daughter if.....  I had to ask myself if I am Sarah's daughter.

Sarah was a woman of faith.  We see that as she is one of those mentioned as a hero of faith in Hebrews Chapter 11.

Hebrews 11:11-12:

11 -12By faith, barren Sarah was able to become pregnant, old woman as she was at the time, because she believed the One who made a promise would do what he said. That's how it happened that from one man's dead and shriveled loins there are now people numbering into the millions.

She laughed when God first told her that she would have a baby in her old age.  She took matters into her own hands to secure an heir for Abraham.  Yes, Sarah was much like many of us, but she is still listed among the heroes of faith.  Jakes reminded me that her husband denied that she was his wife in order to save his life, not just once but multiple times.  Giving her over to the king, because he thought if he told the truth they would kill him to have her.  You never see any where in the word where her attitude toward him changed or was affected in a negative way because of his failure to protect or provide for her in that situation.  She had to be afraid, but her trust was not in her husband, but in God.  During our life group several weeks ago we talked about Trusting Without Doubting.  We determined that the only one we can trust and never doubt is God.  People will always disappoint, but God always keeps His promises.

Sarah laughed initially because she knew the facts and I believe that many of us have laughed because what we could see did not match what we believed God was telling us.  Nothing added up, but the truth is that with God 1 and 1 have never equalled 2.  The math they teach in school is not God's math.  One plus God can add up to whatever He wants it to, because He is God and nothing is impossible with Him.  What am I saying?  I am saying that if you connect your faith to God's promise, it does not matter what the situation, it does not matter what the obstacle or opportunity, your faith plus God's promise will always equal the promise He made coming to pass.

If you are Sarah's daughter you will stand in faith, no matter what the situation, no matter who laughs at you, because you know in the end, you will be laughing with God and even your doubters will have to join you in laughing, because what they thought looked impossible has become possible because of the winning majority vote-God!

When your situation looks impossible don't forget the God factor.  He is not obligated to stuff you come up with on your own, but He is obligated to fulfill the promises that He has made to you as His daughter (or His son).  History has shown us over and over and over again that He keeps His promises.  Luke 1:37:  37 For nothing is impossible with God.[a]

It might help to know that the situation you are in, is no surprise to God.  He knew you would be in that place.  Jeremiah 29:11 talks about the plan of God for your life, but if you scroll back one verse you will  see that He predicted what would happen.  None of it is a surprise to God.  You just have to have the faith to wait it out, to work it out, to walk it out, to love it out, to pray it out, to bless it out, to praise it out and to worship it out.  Realizing that even as you are going through He is building you up in your character and in your faith.  When you get through this the little junk that use to bother you won't bother you any more.  The old issues that use to drive you crazy will not drive you crazy any more.  God is refining you and your faith during the time, but it will only happen as you move along with and stop fighting Him.

Jeremiah 29:10-11, says, This is what the LORD says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

God knew that Sarah would be barren, but He had a plan for her life.  God knew people would mistreat and would reject you, but He has a plan for your life and there is nothing they can do to stop it if you are Sarah's daughter.  Move in Faith, believe and trust God.  Be obedient to what He tells you to do without doubting.  Comfortable?  No.  Easy?  No.  Do it anyway!!!!

God's Witness Protection Program!

Written by Angela Willingham

I was talking to a friend Ebone yesterday morning and she told me about a message her father preached regarding God's witness protection program and I was excited.  This weekend the movie industry released Tyler Perry's new movie, Madea's Witness Protection Program.  I have yet to see it, but I know it is going to be really funny.  My conversation with Ebone got me to thinking about what it is like to be in a protection program orchestrated and directed by God.  Knowing that He is our ultimate protector and that no matter what comes at or against us, He has us.

In Isaiah 59:19, the bible says, So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.  We know the enemy is coming after us.  We know he has a plan for our demise.  He does not want to see us walk in the destiny and purpose that God has for us because he knows that once we do, his time just like that of the drug lord, murderer or mob boss is up.  Once we get to the witness stand to declare what God has told us in our private moments with him, once we get to the stand to tell all that He has done and brought us through the judge and jury will find the enemy guilty.  Guilty of being a liar, murderer and thief.  He will be found guilty of every crime that he is accused of and he will be sentenced to life

without any possibiility of parole.  Maybe you have even heard of the criminals that get more than one life sentence.  Well the enemy knows that is his sentence if we get to the witness stand.

Be assured that he is going to do everything that he can to stop you from testifying.  It seems like every time you are almost there (at your destiny or purpose), there is a delay in the case.  The judge orders an extension or throws out some key piece of evidence.  You have to know who the judge is.  The judge is God.  You have to understand why the delays and why the evidence is being thrown out.  It's for your good and His glory.  Every delay is designed by the judge to  make you stronger and give you more strength and resolve to see the case through to the final end, the conclusion-your destiny.  The judge already knew what He was going to do with the evidence.  He already knew what He was going to do with the delays.  He desires for us to work with Him in the case (aka the process) and not give up.  Remember we have a foe that needs to be sentenced and it is up to each one of us to help put the case together and make sure it is presented in a way that shuts the crime boss down.  But the truth is the case cannot be closed without each one of us standing up and declaring the awesome things that God has done.  There can be no silent witnesses, because silent witnesses do not get heard in the court of law.  Silent and anonymous testimony gets thrown out of court every time.  We have to speak up with our lives and with our voices.

As we do what God has directed us to do, we will find that He will take care of us.    Psalm 91:1, He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  Over and over again God tells us in His word that if we do what He has told us to do, He will take care of us.  When we get into God's Witness Protection Program we don't have to fear, fret, become frustrated or even think about giving up and we definitely don't have to worry about being caught, because God protects His own.  Yes, there may be some scary moments.  Yes, it may seem like the enemy is about to get us.  Yes, there will be times when we do not understand why things are happening the way they are.  The case seemed so, open and shut, but just like in a movie if the case ends to soon, we don't learn what we need to learn, we don't get to see all of the twists and turns and we might even consider it a little boring.  God does it the way He does to ensure that we grow from each experience and that He gets the glory.  At the end of the case you will not be giving credit to the defense or prosecuting attornies.  All of the credit and glory belong to God.  We will all be declaring if it had not been for God, I don't know how I would have got through that situation.

God's promise to us-Isaiah 54:14-17:

14 You will be secure under a government that is just and fair.
Your enemies will stay far away.
   You will live in peace,
and terror will not come near.
15 If any nation comes to fight you,
it is not because I sent them.
Whoever attacks you will go down in defeat.

16 “I have created the blacksmith
who fans the coals beneath the forge
and makes the weapons of destruction.
And I have created the armies that destroy.
17 But in that coming day
no weapon turned against you will succeed.
   You will silence every voice
      raised up to accuse you.
   These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD;
their vindication will come from me.
      I, the LORD, have spoken!

The word does not say that no weapon will be formed against us, but what is does say is that it will not succeed.  If we are in God's Witness Protection Program we will come out all right.  Ask Job, he had to go through some stuff as a witness for the Lord, but he got back even more than he started with.  Ask Noah, who spent 40 days and 40 nights on a boat.  Ask the children of Israel that wandered in the wilderness for 40 years because of their own disobedience.

Matthew 28:18-20:

18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[a] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Because you are not just in any witness protection program, but God's Witness Protection Program you can know that half way through the person that is supposed to be protecting you will not get shot and killed, will not lose you and will not give up because the going gets tough.  You can know that in God's Witness Protection Program, He will be with you until the end.  He said it, it's a promise, He will be with you until the end.  You will not have to change your name and relocate to another city, state or nation.  He can take care of you right where you are until the end of the age.

All you have to do is walk in your authority, be obedient to the assignment and trust that God has you, because you are in the right program.

Remember, It’s Not About You!  Part 3

By Angela Willingham

July 25, 2012

I started this article by telling you that I just got back from a trip to Iowa.  While preparing to go home, for the funeral of my uncle, I knew the trip was going to be significant.  I did not want to go, I did not want to stay as long as I was scheduled to stay and I did not want to spend the money.  Those were my thoughts, but it was not about me.  On the plane, I sat by a young lady whose mom had been diagnosed with cancer three months ago and she was struggling.  She needed somebody.  The trip was a surprise for my mother because I knew she was struggling with the death of her brother.  She needed somebody.  My cousin whose father we were burying did not know I was coming, when she saw me, she clung to me and asked me to speak at the wake.  I asked what she wanted me to say and she said you blessed me when you spoke at our grandmother’s funeral, say what ever you want.  After I spoke she said to the room, “that is what I meant, I knew she would encourage me, I knew she would say something to help me.”  She needed somebody.  One of the deacons commented that it was obvious that I am a believer.  I spoke to a childhood friend who told me that several people had told her about what was said at the wake, they were proud of me.  People that knew me as Angela the little girl saw me as Angela the grown up woman.  At the graveside a pastor asked me to come and speak at his church.  During the Sunday service God reminded me of who I am, the chosen a God, His daughter, a co-laborer, He reminded me through the message of the standards that I have and while everyone may not like them He has called me to have them, not to operate in mediocrity, but the same anointing as the Proverbs 31 Woman.

God has called and purposed this ministry to establish fitness classes in collaboration with other businesses and ministries to touch lives in our communities.  It scared me at first and I know the enemy has done and continues to do all that he can to try to stop me, to discourage me, but God said this is what I am supposed to do.  Thru the fitness class God will open up lives to us, to minister to, to love on and to encourage.  God spoke a long time ago about this ministry and about my life.  The struggles I have gone through are not about me, they are about the purpose, His purpose for my life.  The stuff that is going on may not make sense, but in

Isaiah 55:8-11,  God says

8 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

10 “The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
      producing seed for the farmer
      and bread for the hungry.
11 It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

Just like He has purposed me and this ministry God has also purposed you.  Be about it because somebody needs you.  He said it, we just have to have the faith to believe it, to hold on to the promise of God no matter what it looks like and always remember that it is not about us, but about Him and His purpose for my life and yours.

Note:  If you need further encouragement I encourage you to read the story of Joseph in Genesis Chapters 39-50.  That always inspires me and reminds me that what I have gone through is not so bad.

Scripture Reference:

Isaiah 55:11:

11 It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
