A Week of Thanksgiving
We take so much for granted. We assume that tomorrow will come and that we will have the opportunity to correct the mistakes we made today. We assume that God has to do things for us when in actuality we need to be thankful for what He has already done. When was the last time you said thank you for His allowing you to wake up in the morning? When was the last time you just took time to thank God without asking for anything? Do you even know what you have to be thankful for?
Well Thanksgiving 2006 is upon us.
What does Thanksgiving mean to you?
What does Thanksgiving represent?
Is Thanksgiving about food? We as a human race have made it about food, turkey, ham, lamb, duck, chicken, stuffing/dressing, salads, vegetables, pies, cakes and family all in an overabundance.
How about this year we do something different and add being thankful to our Thanksgiving festivities? Ask yourself what you have to be thankful for this year. Identify the things that you want to thank God for this Thanksgiving.
God thank you for the relationships that I have. First of all thank you for the relationship that I have with you. (If you do not already have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ we encourage you to visit our website http://mynewtemple.org/aSalvation.html. Remember that because of this relationship the rest of our relationships are made stronger. Remember to place this relationship at the center of all of the rest.) Thank you for increasing it so that our relationship is what you want it to be. Thank you for my spouse and for our relationship. Thank you that our marriage is all that you want it to be (if it is not already, pray it into existence. The bible says to speak those things that be not as though they were.) Thank you for my children. Thank you for the food that you have provided for us. Thank you for the job that you have provided for me to be able to take care of my family. Thank you for providing me with a home to live in. Thank you for transportation. Thank you for loving relationships. Thank you for my family and friends. Thank you for family and friends to share this Thanksgiving Holiday with. Thank you for those that are taking the time right now to share food, clothing and basic needs with those that are less fortunate than we are.
This week let’s commit not to ask God for anything but to spend time just thanking God for all that He has and continues to bless us with, family, friends, grace, mercy, love, peace, finances, etc………………….. Every day allow God to show you additional things that you need to thank Him for.
Weekly Scripture
Psalm 100:4: Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.
2 Corinthians 9:15: Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
