2007 Holistic Fitness Challenge
We are embarking on a new year and like most people we all have made some new year's resolutions. There are some things we want to change — or at least those of us at New Beginnings have some things we want to change. I personally prayed and asked God to begin to do some things in my life over this last week, because there were some things I dealt with in 2006, I just did not want to carry over into 2007. Well if any of you know God the way I do then you know He began to do a work. It seemed as though everything was being exposed and torn up. The awesome thing is that I know it was all for my good. Well as a ministry we are going to start the year off with a fitness challenge and we encourage you to join us.
We have recruited a new person to the New Beginnings team. She is our sister beloved Donna Goodall. She will be working to assist you and me with getting this weight off as our Weight Loss Coach. I spoke to her and she is excited. She has some awesome tips that she wants to share with you and me as it relates to our eating habits and our work out regimen. She is a beautiful example of a sister working it out holistically, so we encourage you to join us in the fitness challenge and listen to her via podcast, send messages to her e-mail address or write to her on the message board so she can encourage you to get the weight off. Check out what she had to say to us in the weekly message dated 3/13/2006. http://mynewtemple.org/archives/3-13-06.html. Be warned that one of the first things that she is going to tell us and insist on is that we be selfish about losing the weight and changing our lifestyles.
2007 — New Beginnings Holistic Fitness Ministries, Inc., Fitness Challenge
Let’s make it personal!!!!
To Get Started-
Go to the New Beginnings website www.mynewtemple.org and register on the Message Board. There is no cost for registration and you will have the awesome opportunity to share your concerns, challenges and your successes with others just like you that are trying to become holistically fit, spiritually, physically, relationally and emotionally and receive fitness advice.
Here are some of the things you will need to do to start the challenge.
- Determine to be selfish about doing whatever it takes and taking care of yourself.
- Have someone take your measurements. Check the Encouragement page for a form you can use to chart your progress.
- Buy a journal or notebook to keep track of your thoughts and progress.
- If you do not already have accountability partners, begin to pray about who will be the most encouragement to you and then prayerfully ask them. Again we have provided a form for your use on our Encouragement page to keep track of who they are. Donna will tell us what these people can and cannot do for us.
- Begin to go through your cabinets and identify any foods that will be harmful to your efforts to become holistically fit. This means you might have to throw some stuff out. While you may see this as a waste of money, it is better to waste the money than to have a negative affect on your health.
- Begin to think about some goals that you would like to set for yourself along the way. One thing that was suggested to me was to drop a dress size in a month rather than focusing on the weight itself. The pounds have not always dropped off easily for me, even though I could see the inches coming off.
- Begin to think about the things that cause you to eat. Identify any bad habits that need to be changed and make some strategic plans to change the ones you can, but do not beat yourself up. This will be a process and change takes time.
- Begin to make a plan for your eating and for your exercise. Scheduling your exercise and your eating like you schedule everything else will make it a habit.
New Beginnings also has products that are available for purchase on the website on the products and services page that may be beneficial to you and assist in keeping you on track, The Temple Time Gospel Movement Video, The New Beginnings Temple Time Bible Study Guide, the 30 Day Meal and Cardio Journal.
If you have clothes in your closet of various sizes that you will never wear again take them out and give them to someone that can use them. If you have clothes that are to big, get rid of them now and stop planning to gain the weight and inches back (This one was for me. I have some cute size 20 outfits that I just don't want to get rid of. I look better in the 16, but breaking up is hard to do. I thought I was kind of cute in those size 20 outfits, but they have got to go. I look silly in them now.
In an effort to assist all of us in staying on track we will be giving daily instruction on the message board to encourage us to reach our goals. The official start date is January 2, 2007, however, if you don’t start then you can start whenever you can because it will be set up in a way that will allow you to do the getting started information and then go through the daily instructions.
If you have questions regarding the Fitness Challenge or if there are any concerns please contact us so that we can provide whatever assistance is needed contactus@mynewtemple.org.
This will start as a 90 day challenge but it is our prayer that it become a lifestyle change for us and for you.
Know that we are praying for your success and look forward to your joining us in this.
